Guestbook

  1. Mr. Brotherton was such a sweet person. Thank you for the time you spent in the military. RIP Walter. Earlene Walton

  2. Walt was one of my favorite friends. While living in Naples, Walt and Shirley invited me to have lunch at their home (after I completed information for a library card in Naples!) They had helped with the library there and wanted me to see it. The lunch with them was elegant, to say the least. Walt said to me, “I don’t want you to think she did this just for you…..she does it EVERY meal!” What a wonderful couple and team they were together! They were an inspiration to all!

  3. Phyllis is right on! I was blessed to be invited to lunch along with my Mom, Jewel Owens. We enjoyed our tour of their beautiful home, and Mom was so taken with Shirley’s “Doo Dad” closet, that she soon had one of her own. Shirley served Strawberry Soup and a lovely salad, with greens she had grown and flowers in the salad! I’ve forgotten the type of flower, but the whole meal was elegant and delicious. Walt was such a gracious host. Being around them was always such a pleasure. I have wonderful memories of both Walt and Shirley. They will both be missed.

  4. Jennifer Brotherton Woods says:

I have a very fond memory of this family. When I read about his love for ice cream in his obituary in Mena, Arkansas I had to write a tribute! I don’t remember all the details but somehow Mr. Walt & Mrs. Shirley found out my name (maiden name Jennifer “Jenny” Brotherton) and invited me over to visit with their granddaughter Jenny one summer. It was such a memorable day! We swam, visited, had lunch, etc. and I remember it being so “fancy”! I see others have the same memory of them. I am now 46 and very vividly remember what a treat that day was and I especially remember the kindness they showed me, their beautiful house, and the flaming ice cream! So sorry for the family’s loss but I would imagine they have many wonderful memories of them.
