A Mass of Christian Burial for Sandra Kay Smoak, 80, of Ore City will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Daingerfield. Burial will follow in Our Lady in the Pines Cemetery. Mrs. Smoak was born on May 9, 1943 in Gilmer to Wayne and Jeppie Mackey. She passed away on Monday Morning, November 27, 2023 at her daughter's home in Chappell Hill. Services have been entrusted to the Horn Family at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Friday, December 1, 2023 at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 6 PM.
Mrs. Smoak was an amazing seamstress having made clothes for all of kids and family. She even made some gowns that were in the Miss Texas and Miss America pageants. Mrs. Smoak was extremely good at math and had a gift for calculating numbers in her head. She loved to cook and to can foods. She was a long-time member of Catholic Church and attended Our Lady of Fatima. Those left to cherish her many memories include Anastasia Kazyak of Brenham - children & grandchildren; Michael and Jaime Kazyak of Brenham- Harper and River, Marcus and Jerilyn Kazyak of Tomball - Olivia and Wyatt, Paul and Caitlyn Kazyak of Portland, Oregon - Bree & one on the way; Andy & Brenda Smoak of Marietta Tx- children & grandchildren; Brana Smoak - Brenson & Brennon, Drew Smoak - Adilynn; Christopher & Siglinda Smoak’s (Linden, TX) - children and grandchildren: Logan Marie Smoak (Nacogdoches, TX), Haylee Smoak Eudy & Austin Eudy (Queen City, TX), Eric Smoak, wife Shaina Smoak - Jayden and Skyler Smoak. (Haworth, OK), Kristy Smoak Minton, husband Bryan Minton - Addison, Presley, Makenna, Bryson and baby Jacob Minton who preceded his great-grandmother in death. (Texarkana, TX); Bernadette & Louis Reel of Ore City, TX - children & grandchildren: Lannon Smoak- Lexi, Lucia, & Lane, Randolph Reel - Baylor deceased & Emma, Joe Reel - Ataley & Joe Jr., Alton Reel - Alaina, Charity Reel - deceased, Anastasia & William Ludington - Edward, Luke & Jewell Reel - Chloe; Matthew Smoak of Daingerfield- children: Matthew Smoak, Sebastián Smoak, Joshua Smoak, Ezekiel Smoak & Elias Smoak; William Smoak of Cason-children & grandchildren: Amber Smoak -deceased, William Smoak - Jack, Maci Smoak; Gregory & Sandra Smoak (Hughes Springs, TX)- children & grandchildren: Amelia Smoak, Alisha McKinney & Jonathan McKinney- Laura Lynn and Beckham McKinney, Amanda Marxsen & Joseph Marxsen - Jaxson Marxsen (Maxwell Air Force Base); Eugenia & Pete Angus of (Chappell Hill, TX)- children: Alexander Angus, Nicholas Angus deceased, Victoria Angus & Colin and Peter Angus & Linsey; brothers, Harold Mackey and Marvis Mackey; nieces, Marla and Katherine; nephew, Ryan as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in honor of Mrs. Smoak to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project or Hospice Brazos Valley.







Mothers hold their children’s hands for a while, but their hearts forever. Your love blessed us all and will live on through your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for many years. You will be missed. Rest in peace, Sandra. Sending love and prayers, now and forever.
