Samuel Anthony Wilson, 78, of Mount Pleasant, Texas, passed away on the morning of September 30, 2026. He was born on June 30, 1948, in Shelbyville, Texas, to Robert and Edith Wilson. Samuel had lived in the Mount Pleasant area for the past 10 years.

Samuel worked as a boat captain in the oil and gas industry. He enjoyed building things, mechanic work, and working with his hands. He was a hardworking man who took pride in being able to fix, build, and work on things. Above all, Samuel was devoted to his family and always put them first. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished the time he spent with those he loved. Samuel was also a member of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers and sisters; and his grandson, Andrew Wilson.

Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda Wilson of Mount Pleasant; his children, Shannon Wilson of New Mexico, Robert Wilson and wife Robin of Lumberton, Texas, and Rebecca Deason and husband James of Daingerfield, Texas.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Connor Wilson and wife Elizabeth, Malia Gustin and husband Jacob, Randall Thurmon, Mikalah Stegall, Amelia Deason, and Jake Wilson; his great-grandson, Kohen Vaughn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Horn Family Funeral Home in Daingerfield, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburg.
