Richard Boyd Montgomery, age 80, of Hughes Springs, Texas, passed away on April 14, 2026.

Richard was born on November 10, 1945, in De Kalb, Texas. He grew up there and attended De Kalb High School, graduating with the Class of 1964. Shortly after graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, including three years stationed in Germany.

Following his military service, Richard began a long and dedicated career with Lone Star Steel, where he eventually retired as a maintenance supervisor. He had a natural ability to fix just about anything and was often considered a mechanic at heart. In his free time, he found joy in fishing and gardening.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Ruby Montgomery; his brother, Kent Montgomery; his sons, Blake Montgomery and Erik Montgomery; and his grandchild, Landon Bean.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Diane Montgomery; his children, Micki Biddle, Jason Bean and wife Jennifer, Dustin Bean and partner Monica, Sherrie Campbell and husband Jessie, and Cindy Nation. He is also survived by his siblings, Donna Underwood, Larry Montgomery, and Linda Montgomery; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Horn Family Funeral Home in Daingerfield, Texas.
