Paulene Gibson Cochran

Paulene Gibson Cochran, 92, passed away on August 30, 2026 peacefully at Capstone Nursing Home in Daingerfield. She was born on July 31, 1934, in Lucedale, Mississippi, to Neil and Sallie Gibson. She was the sixth of ten children born to Neil and Sallie. Paulene moved to Houston, Texas one day after her high school graduation in 1952 and began working for Lykes Shipping Company. It was there that she would meet Ray Cobb Cochran who she would marry October 31, 1953 and be together until his death in 2011. They had four sons which they loved to frequent every football, baseball and basketball game they would have ever played in. She was an avid sports fan.

Paulene and Ray moved to Daingerfield, Texas in May of 1969 to publish weekly newspapers in the towns of Daingerfield, Lone Star, Omaha/Naples, and Hallsville. They jointly wrote the articles, set the ads and distributed the paper until 1972. Paulene went onto join Daingerfield Manufacturing Roofing (currently Atlas Roofing) plant. She worked as the purchasing manager until her retirement in 1996. Paulene was a member of First Baptist Church of Daingerfield and active with the 20 th Century Women’s Club of Daingerfield for many years. The family thanks the dedicated and loving caregivers of Capstone Nursing Home and Chambers Hospice Care for their wonderful care of Paulene in her final months and days.

Paulene’s life will be remembered with love by her family and friends. Her kindness, strength, and the memories she created will remain a lasting part of the lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ray Cochran and her youngest son Cary Moore Cochran. She is survived by her sons Connie Neil Cochran (Kathy) of Georgetown, Texas, Cyle Edward Cochran (Denise) of Gilmer, Texas and Caryl Ray Cochran (Sandy) of Daingerfield. Her loving grandchildren, Paul Cochran (Helen) of Katy, Texas, Krissy Ann Malone (Paul) of Granby, Colorado, Patrick Cochran of Madison, Alabama, Chase Cochran of Port Aurther, Texas, Kyle Sands (Ashley) of Daingerfield, Texas, Kelley Sands (Emily) of Daingerfield, Texas, Kendal Lange (Mitch) of Gilmer, Texas, Meagan Jackson (Aarron) of Flower Mound, Texas, Allie Hernandez (Eric) of Frisco, Texas, Claire Dukes (Patrick) of Lone Star, Texas, Loren Cochran (Charlie) of Lone Star, Texas and Casey Cochran (Taylor) of Prosper, Texas. Her great grandchildren Kasey Cochran of El Paso, Texas, Katherine Cochran of Lynchburg, Virginia, Cameron Cochran of Katy, Texas, Cooper and Maverick Cochran of Madison, Alabama, Colyn Cochran of New Diana, Texas, Scarlett Cochran of Columbia, South Carolina, Aubrey and Kennedy Sands of Daingerfield, Texas, Charlie, Oliver and Emmitt Sands of Daingerfield, Parker Lange of Gilmer, Texas, Charlie, Addie and Elijah Jackson of Flower Mound, Texas, Ethan and Ada Hernandez of Frisco, Texas, Cameron and Parker Dukes of Lone Star, Texas, Tinleigh Ramsey of Lone Star, Eli, Addison and Kaiyah Macias of Lone Star, Texas, and Carson Cochran of Prosper, Texas.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of traditional floral arrangements, the family kindly asks that you consider bringing or sending a live plant in memory of Paulene Cochran. The plants will serve as a lasting remembrance of Paulene and can be cherished by her loved ones for years to come.
