Maxine Edwards, a beloved resident of Lone Star, Texas, passed away gracefully surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 31, 1925, in Ripley, Tennessee, Maxine lived a vibrant and fulfilling life marked by her funny, loving, entertaining, and friendly nature.

Maxine dedicated much of her life to her home and family, excelling as a talented homemaker. Her hands were rarely still as she was a skilled seamstress and an exceptional cook. Quilting was one of her passions, creating beautiful pieces that family and friends cherished. Even into her 90s, Maxine was remarkably active—raking leaves and burning them at the age of 90, always planning daily projects, ensuring there was never a dull moment around her.

She was an integral part of The Worship Center Lone Star Assembly of God, where she was very active and deeply loved by her church community. Maxine’s storytelling was legendary; she had a unique way of captivating her audience, willing to share her tales more than once with a charming persistence.

Maxine leaves behind a legacy of love and joy through her extensive family. She is survived by her son, Bob Edwards of Rockport; her daughter, Linda Little and her husband John of Longview; grandchildren, Rodney Matthews and his wife Wendy, Alan Allen and his wife Rachel, Marcus Edwards and his wife Tanya, Tifani Hesser and her husband Andy, Kyle Whitehead and his wife Sarah, and Jana Dunn and her husband Heath; numerous great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, R.C. Edwards, her daughter, Joyce Conley, her loving parents, G.G. and Mamie Williams, six brothers, and a sister, all of whom left a mark on her heart.

In honoring Maxine’s memory, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the East Texas Alzheimer’s Alliance, PO Box 4223, Longview, TX 75606, an organization close to her heart considering her compassion for those in need.

Maxine’s warm presence and her indomitable spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her stories, love, and laughter will linger in our memories forever.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 6, 2026 in the Chapel of Horn Family Funeral Home in Daingerfield. Private interment will be held in Iron Bluff Cemetery in Lone Star.
