Mary "Kathy" Precise
Mary Katherine Precise, known lovingly by her nickname “Kathy,” passed away peacefully in her hometown of Daingerfield, Texas. Born on March 8, 1956, in Gilmer, Texas, Kathy was a devoted fixture in her community, cherished for her loving, active, dedicated, and protective nature.
Kathy’s professional life was marked by her compassionate service at Titus County Hospital and East Texas Medical Center, where she worked in administration. She found joy and purpose in driving a school bus for Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD, especially when she drove the football team to out-of-town games, earning the affectionate title of “Nana” not only from her grandchildren but from everyone who knew her.
A faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Cason, Kathy embraced life with vigor and cherished the outdoors. She loved camping, fishing, and cooking; however, her greatest joy was undoubtedly the time spent with her grandchildren.
Kathy leaves behind her loving daughters, Kristi Precise and Kenley Taylor, both of Daingerfield; her adored grandchildren, Jordan, Cameron, Caslyn and Layna; great grandchildren, Landon, Avery, Jaxxen, Zayden, Emerie, Enzleigh, Ledger, and Bryson. She also leaves behind her dear brother, David Byrd, numerous nieces and nephews, and a community that felt her warm presence profoundly.
Previously, Kathy was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Harold and Joann Byrd, and her sister, Karen Hosea, who surely awaited her with open arms.
Kathy’s legacy is defined by unending kindness, a fiercely protective love for her family, and an unwavering dedication to her community. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the boundless energy and love she brought into our lives. Kathy will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at 1 pm Friday, May 1, 2026 in the Chapel of Horn Family Funeral Home of Daingerfield. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 pm prior to the service.

My prayers are with you, Lisa Coe
Kathy was my neighbor and friend since “school bus” days. She celebrated every holiday and season with the fun of a grandmother seeking to delight her children and grandchildren. I cannot believe she is gone, but she leaves a legacy of love. I pray God will comfort all the special people in her life.
Deepest sympathies for your loss! I know she left you with lots of great memories and advice. Praying for peace and comfort for her loved ones!
