Loreda "Rita" Bridwell

Celebrating the life of Loreda “Rita” Bridwell, who passed away at the age of 81, leaving a legacy filled with love and dedication. Born on November 15, 1944, in Center, Texas, Rita later became a cherished member of the Daingerfield, Texas community where she lived with her loving husband, Albert Wayne Bridwell.

Rita’s story began growing up in the small town of Timpson, where she faced significant challenges from a young age. Following the loss of her mother at just 14 years old, she stepped into the role of caregiver and mother for her family, embodying strength and resilience. Her heart found solace in young Albert Wayne, a little league baseball player coached by her father, and their bonds of affection grew strong. Despite early obstacles to their union, their love prevailed, culminating in a marriage that lasted 64 years.

Together, Rita and Albert raised a beautiful family, including their daughter Denise Trent and her husband Chad of Mineola; and sons, Wayne Bridwell of Daingerfield and Chris Bridwell of Hughes Springs. Rita’s joy was further multiplied by her cherished grandchildren, Gage Bridwell of College Station, Ashton Trent, and Eden Trent of Mineola.

A devout member of South Union Baptist Church, Rita found solace and fulfillment in her faith, which guided her throughout her life.

Preceded in death by her parents, P.J. “Buck” and Elsie Bryce Hailey, and her brothers, Cordell Hailey and Robert “Dink” Hailey. Rita leaves behind a legacy of love and the warmest of memories in the hearts of those who knew her.

Rita’s life will be remembered as a journey of love, resilience, and unwavering faith, deeply enriching the lives of all who knew her. Her spirit will continue to inspire those she has left behind.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, October 8, 2026 at South Union Baptist Church with Bro. Curtis Epnett officiating. Burial will follow in Timpson Cemetery in Timpson Missionary Baptist Cemetery in Timpson under the direction of Horn Family Funeral Home of Daingerfield. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM, Wednesday evening, October 7, 2026 at the funeral home.
