Jimmy,Christy and Mrs. Byrd,so sorry for your loss. He was always so nice to us. Know he will be missed greatly. Hugs to you all…
Since Tom Byrd was my dad’s best friend (Monroe Walker) from the time they were born, we spent a lot of time at their home. I used to love going there because they had lots of children that I could baby sit or play with. They were our family. I remember Lester and his smile.
Wish I could be at the cemetery and visit with all the siblings that are left. I have not been to East Texas in a year and do not know when I will be able to visit again. My love and prayers go out to all of you.
Sorry for y’all’s loss. Lester was one of a kind for sure. I’ll keep your family in my prayers.
My heart and prayers are with you Martha, and Jimmy at the loss of Lester. I pray you feel the peace and comfort that only our Lord can give…

Audie wants to send his condolences to the family. He and Lester were close in age growing up as cousins. He remembers going to school together and in the summer months would get watermelons to eat out of the fields. Sending our deepest sympathy to all the family.

Lester lived beside us in Jenkins when I was in the 6th grade and just moved to Daingerfield from Hughes Springs. He was probably in his mid 30’s at the time. He had semi long hair and was so nice to me. He helped me train for the Punt, Pass and Kick competition for weeks, and was very supportive, even though I sucked. I remember one night, we were burning brush in the pasture and we started hearing the panther screaming. Literally screamed like a scared woman. My dad, Malvin Nix, and Lester jumped into the truck and we went looking for the panther. I was so scared I nearly peed my pants. Lester turned toward me and said, don’t worry Kenny Paul, I’ll stay between you that panther no matter what happens. He was the best and I always though he was just so cool. Lester was such a kind soul, May he rest in Peace. Prayers for the family, I’m so sorry for your loss. – Kenny Nix
