Laura Joyce Allen
Laura Joyce Allen, a beloved figure known for being loveable, tough, kind, and an all-around good woman, peacefully passed away at the age of 92 in her hometown of Daingerfield, Texas. Born on December 31, 1933, in Queen City, Texas, Laura’s life was marked by her deep-rooted values and care for others.
Laura delighted in a near life-long companionship with her husband of almost 74 years, Lonzie Allen of Daingerfield. Together, they built a life grounded in love and mutual respect over many decades. Laura’s sense of community was palpable in her active participation at the Lilley’s Chapel Church of Christ in Daingerfield, where she was not only a faithful member but a dedicated Bible class teacher, enriching the lives of countless including her own nieces and nephews.
Educated initially in Queen City, and later at Daingerfield High School where she cheered her team on as a cheerleader, Laura concluded her early education after graduating from Jefferson High School. She went on to contribute significantly to her community through her work, first with the Daingerfield National Bank for 24 years, and subsequently at the Welsh Power Plant in Cason.
Laura’s pursuits extended beyond professional commitments. She had a passion for exploring the vast landscapes of America, achieving her goal of driving through all the states except Florida and Alaska by the scenic “back roads.” An avid reader, she also held a deep affection for animals. Above all, Laura’s devotion to her family was unwavering. She was meticulous about remembering and celebrating every birthday and special occasion, and she never missed an opportunity to offer well wishes during times of illness.
Laura is survived by her husband, Lonzie, and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory and continue to feel her influence in their lives for years to come. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Allie McConnell, and her brother, Wilburn McConnell.
Laura’s legacy of kindness, resilience, and enduring care for others will be dearly missed by all who knew her. As we remember Laura, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and lovingly remembered.

Laura was a sweet lady whose smile will be greatly missed! Condolences to her husband, Lonzie…
Prayers for everyone in this family. My husband Mike talked about Mrs Laura often. He adored her. She will be missed
My father, Gary Helms, preached at Lilley’s Chapel church of Christ, two, different times in the past.
Our family got to know the Allen families well over the years … Laura & Lonzie’s was one of them.
My Dad said he, always, enjoyed hearing Laura laugh … & enjoyed their conversations, as well.
I, also, remember Laura, although, not in as vivid of detail, since I was so young then. However, I, too, remember her, beautiful, smile.
My family wishes to express our sorrow over Laura’s, earthly, departure … yet, we rejoice to know her, heavenly, one has begun. Our love, & sincerest, prayers go out to the Allens, at this time.
May you, forever, fly high, “Ms. Laura”~
