Joshua Jay Bishop

August 3, 1995 ~ March 10, 2026

Born in: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Resided in: Longview, Texas

Celebrating the life of Joshua Jay Bishop, born on August 3, 1995, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who passed away leaving a legacy of vibrant energy and a zest for life. A resident of Longview, Texas, Joshua was recognized by all who knew him as a free spirit who was always on the move.

Joshua attended Hallsville Schools, graduating from Hallsville High School in 2014. He grew up attending Woodland Hills Baptist Church, which helped shape his early years. Joshua’s jovial nature made him the class clown and the life of the party, a title he held throughout his life with pride.

His passions included gaming and hunting for Pokémon, showcasing his love for adventure both virtually and in the real world. Music, particularly EDM, also played a significant part in his life, filling his moments with rhythm and pulse.

Red hair, that unmistakable red beard… like a Viking who found his way onto a skateboard instead of a ship.
He’d ride that board to work in any kind of weather, it didn’t matter. That was just who he was. He was a gamer, a Pokémon hunter, and even at 30 years old… still a kid at heart 💜.

St. Patrick’s Day was his day. He wore it like a badge of honor with his Ireland tattoo and all.
And that laugh, if you knew him, you know exactly what that means. When Josh thought something was funny, the whole room knew it.

Joshua is survived by his father, Jeff Bishop, and fiancée, Marlene Boyles of Longview; his mother, Lynette Bishop, also of Longview; beloved sister, Stephanie Bishop, and her fiancé, Cole Thompson, of Weatherford; his grandmother, Patricia Bishop of Sioux Falls; his aunt, Jodi Parrish, and uncles Scott Bishop of Tea, South Dakota, and Steven Bishop of Longview. He also leaves behind numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss his dynamic presence.

For those wishing to honor Joshua’s memory by bringing awareness to suicide prevention, memorial contributions can be directed to Resolute, 319 Industrial Dr., Longview, Texas 75602, or by calling (903) 213-9120. If you or someone you know is struggling with depression or thoughts of suicide, please reach out to Resolute or a similar program near you.

Joshua’s indomitable spirit and infectious laugh will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will continue to inspire and evoke joy in the hearts of his loved ones.

A Celebration of Joshua’s life is set for Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Perkins Chapel at Woodland Hills Baptist Church Longview with Bro. Charles Hunt officiating.
