I will miss Mrs. Hasley so much. She was a truly amazing woman with a heart full of love. I know her legacy will continue to shine through her beautiful family. Praying that God surrounds you all with comfort and strength during this time.
Janet "Sue" Coyle Hasley
Janet “Sue” Coyle Hasley, 91 of East Mountain, Texas walked into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. She was born February 16, 1935 to Hugh Franklin Coyle and Birdie Jewel Lemmond Coyle in Big Sandy, Texas.
At a young age she moved to Pritchett, Texas, where she attended Mings Chapel Schools before graduating as valedictorian of the East Mountain High School Class of 1952. She was active in school, serving on student council and playing on the Lady Tigers Regional Champion volleyball team, while excelling academically, especially in business and mathematics.
It was at a volleyball game during her senior year that she first caught the attention of Norval D. “Red” Hasley. As he would often say, “I knew the minute I saw her, I wanted to get to know her.” They married four months after her graduation, beginning a love story that would span their lifetime.
Janet was the first in her family to receive a college degree. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas Baptist College in 1967. She furthered her education by earning a Master’s degree in Business Education from East Texas State University. She dedicated 32 years to the White Oak Independent School District. She also established the National Honor Society chapter at White Oak High School in 1978, mentoring and inspiring generations of students. She was also a proud member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Beta Mu Chapter. Janet used her creativity to organize and decorate school events, including banquets, homecoming, and prom. In 1974, she was one of four founding members of the Longview Volleyball Chapter of TASO and served as its president for many years.
Janet and Red were faithful members of East Mountain Baptist Church for over 30 years, where they served in numerous roles, including Sunday School, nursery, and preparing meals for the youth choir each week. Janet also participated in mission trips to Mexico, and together they served with Builders for Christ across the United States. She was especially proud to help lead the team that hand-stained the wooden beams of the church sanctuary ceiling, a lasting testament to her care and dedication. Later, they continued their faith journey at Calvary Baptist Church on Tenneryville Road, where they remained active and devoted members. Janet cherished the ladies she taught in her senior adult Sunday School class.
A daughter, sister, wife, mother, teacher, and friend, Janet was, above all, a faithful child of God. She loved deeply, laughed often, and remained devoted to Red, the love of her life. She led by example, teaching others to be honest, trustworthy, loyal, kind, and loving and to treat others as they would wish to be treated. She will be remembered for her beautiful laugh, her radiant smile, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew and loved her. Her life reflected the virtues of Proverbs 31:10–31.
Following retirement, Janet and Red enjoyed traveling across the United States in their fifth wheel, often visiting family and spending time in state and national parks. They were among their children’s and grandchildren’s biggest supporters.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Norval D. “Red” Hasley; her son, Hugh Hasley; her parents; her siblings, Louise Campbell and husband Hugh, Maysel Watkins and husband Ellis; Newton Coyle, Jerry Coyle; and her son-in-love, Robert D. McGoldrick.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy Hasley and wife Gina, Jana McGoldrick; her daughter-in-love, Joy Hasley. She is also survived by her grandchildren: James Hasley and wife Caitlin, Jeremy Hasley and wife Erica, Ginger Davis and husband Robert, Jaron Hasley and wife Natalie, Bethany Andreas and husband Justin, and Joel Hasley and wife Courtney; and her great-grandchildren: Addison, Austin, Hadlie, and Tripp Hasley; Thomas, Jesse, and Ruby Davis; Jack, Jase, Noelle, and Josiah Hasley; June, Margot, and Penny Hasley; and Elowen Andreas. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Dorthy Coyle, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Sullivan Hall at Calvary Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Calvary Baptist Church, 4715 Tenneryville Road, Longview, Texas 75604. A private family interment will take place at Old White Oak Cemetery.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff, nurses, and caregivers of Westminster Place at Buckner in Longview and Hospice Plus of Longview for the compassion and care shown during her final months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Red and Janet Hasley Legacy Scholarship at White Oak ISD Administration Office, 200 South White Oak, White Oak, Texas 75693.
