Service for Gerald P. Hargrove 84 of Daingerfield will be 10 A.M. Monday, June 28, 2021 at the Daingerfield Church of Christ with Tim Gibbs and Mark White officiating. Burial will be in the Daingerfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.Gerald was born on January 9, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant to Howell and Lucille Haggard Hargrove. He died on Friday, June 25, 2021.He was a member of the Daingerfield Church of Christ. Gerald was a self-employed entrepreneur where he did the grounds maintenance for Lone Star Steel, operated a service station, started the first rural trash pick up in the tri city area, cut timber, did lawn care and landscaping. Survived by his wife of 62 years Margie Mullins Hargrove of Daingerfield; children Tanya and David Shumate of Mt. Pleasant, Brett Hargrove of Coppell, Blake and Lisa Hargrove of Naples, Felicia and Jim Smith of Wildwood, Mo., and Reese and Mickey Hargrove of Mt. Vernon; sisters Patricia Hargrove Rains of Queen City and Judy and Joe Moore of Blossom; brothers-in-law Ray Mullins of Sherman and Tommy and Martha Mullins of Mt. Vernon; sister-in-law Faye Lewis of Diana; 13 grandchildren, Brett and Sarah Shumate, Jacob Shumate, Ben Smith, Tristan Hargrove, Jesse Hargrove, John Wiley Hargrove, Dylan and Emily Hargrove, Chase Hargrove, Ashley and Eric Winchester, Audrey and Corey Wilson, Alyson Nichols, Miranda Nichols and Chase Gardner; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews;Family will receive friends from 5 till 7 Sunday at the funeral home.Online condolences may be made at Nail-HaggardFH.com

Rest in Peace, Gerald. You worked hard all your life. Your beautiful wife and children are your living legacy. I will never forget the many, many kindnesses you extended to my mother and father as their health declined. Sometimes, I think you worked hard trying to disguise that you were a good man and a soft touch….but some of us were lucky to live long enough to discover better. Thank you for your friendship. Saddened to learn of Gerald’s passing. I feel that I was blessed to have known Gerald during my time at Lone Star. He was truly a gentleman and a hard worker. The world needs more men like Gerald Hargrove. My sincere condolences to his family. He will be missed by many friends as well as you, his immediate family.
