Douglas Eugene Bechtold Sr., 50, of Daingerfield, Texas, passed away on September 24, 2026. He was born on October 4, 1975, to Roger Bechtold and Marilyn Mizner. Originally from Nebraska, Douglas grew to love living in the South.
Douglas enjoyed riding motorcycles, side-by-sides, big trucks, mudding, and fishing. He often spoke about the freedom of riding motorcycles, saying there was no stress and no thinking to it. He was a straightforward man who believed in being honest and speaking face-to-face.
Above all, Douglas loved his family dearly and was deeply loved by them. He will be remembered for his honest nature, his love of the outdoors, and the many memories he made with those closest to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Bechtold, and his brother, Dean Bechtold. He is survived by his former wife, Jessica McDaniel of Daingerfield; his sons, Douglas Eugene Bechtold Jr. and wife Destanee Walls of Daingerfield, and Isaiah Bechtold of Daingerfield; his daughters, Megan Shantel Bentner and Jazlynn Raydean Bechtold; his grandchildren, Taylor Jolynn Bechtold, Emma Marie Bechtold, Noah Matthew Bechtold, and Nicholas Eugene Bechtold; his mother, Marilyn Mizner; and his sisters, Kathy Bechtold of Ainsworth, Nebraska, and Kristi Johnson and husband Glen of Ainsworth, Nebraska.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Horn Family Funeral Home and Cremations in Daingerfield, Texas. The family will hold a private celebration of life.
