July 27, 1955 ~ October 10, 2023

On October 10th, 2023 Debbie L Grant passed away peacefully, at the age of 68 with her family by her side. She was born July 27, 1955 in Gilmer Tx, raised in Coffeeville and attended Ore City Schools. She was a lifelong Avinger, Tx resident for 50 years. Debbie dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. She excelled at motherhood and was the foundation of our family. She was an excellent gift giver, always knew the right thing to say and never missed a special date. Her home-making skills were something she took much pride in. She was always rearranging furniture, decorating for each holiday and loved to fix her loved ones their favorite meal or bake their favorite treat. Her family got to brag in her honor when her “family favorite” Pecan Pie won the Longview News Journal Pie contest in 2006 In 2004, Debbie decided to try something new and began working at Sam’s Club in Longview. She was employed there for 12 years and during that time became the Photo lab manager. She cherished the relationships made with her customers and coworkers who became extended family. She was a loyal customer of Papacitas. She enjoyed her daily Diet Coke runs to Sonic and when she wouldn’t answer her phone we just knew she was either outside mowing her yard and tending to her roses or watching Judge Judy. However, when asked what was her favorite thing to do, being a Grammie would always be her answer. She was a daily presence in the lives of her grandchildren. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, Marion “Sambo” and Lillie Mae Newsom, brothers, Joe Wayne Newsom and Tommy Marvin Newsom. She is survived by her 3 children, Sammi Drew-Lilienstern(Geoff), Staci Grant(Tellas), and Joshua Grant(Megan); her grandchildren Parker Drew, Jayden Grant, Peyton Drew, Ashlyn Grant, Kamden Grant, Gatlin Grant, River Grant, Layla Hames and Grayson Lilienstern; her sisters Marion Aycock, and Patricia Cook(Robert); nieces and nephews Andy Aycock, April Grogan, Joe Newsom Jr., Robin Pierce and Ashley Mclendon and her great nieces and nephew. Family and friends are invited to bring their favorite Sonic drink for visitation, October 12th from 6-8 at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield, Tx. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on October 13, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Coffeeville Cemetery just outside of Ore City off State Hwy 155. N.
