Cecil Campbell

June 19, 1933 ~ April 14, 2026

Born in: Nevada, Texas
Resided in: Mount Pleasant, Texas

Cecil Campbell, 92, of Mount Pleasant was born and raised in Nevada Tx. He went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2026 while at his home and surrounded by his family. He lost his father at 3 years old, and life was hard. From a young age he took on the role of caring for his younger siblings and throughout his life he has selflessly cared for others with great commitment to the ones he loved. For much of his life he was raised by his grandmother Dessie Jane Posey Campbell. Growing up fast, he had to work in fields to help support the family. In doing so he developed many skills, knowledge and abilities to fix and repair things.

He was in the 1953 graduating class at Community ISD in Nevada Texas. A group of women got together and purchased a dress for his grandmother so she could attend his graduation. He worked for the school as a bus driver in his junior and senior years. He also drove his senior class of 13 to Galveston Tx for their senior trip. He became a hero, saved 15 lives that day by avoiding an oncoming truck and safely stopped the bus on the side of the road. After high school He proudly served in the Army for 2 years in Panama Canal.

After high school and some college, he married Gerrie Ann, Davis Campbell in 1956 they had 2 children Cecil Clifton and Sabrina Candace and enjoyed 39 years together until she died in his arms. Cecil retired from Texas Instruments after 36 years of faithful service and worked for Hitachi for 4 years, all as a planner and purchasing agent. His hobbies and fun revolved around his family, which was always a priority. From football, baseball, band, dancing and baton he was always there for his family. With the family in tow, on the weekends he loved going to his father-in-law Clifton “Kick” Davis farm in Mt. Pleasant to work cows, plow gardens, mend fences, and fix equipment. Cecil was a Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger fan, and shared many stats, and back stories about the teams, players, and coaches in all the leagues. He also loved music country, oldies, big band, and could tell the back stories on that as well. He was smart, humble and a straight shooter. He told it like it is and was a believer that your word meant something. He was a man of integrity, grit, honor and a man of his word.

After being widowed he met, fell in love and married Johnnie Erwin Parsons Campbell. He loved and respected her family as his own. They enjoyed their retirement years traveling, seeing and experiencing the country and the world. They had many good times and memories together. Cooking classes on cruise ships, making and naming wine, hosting the families at home, attending a variety of grandchildren’s events and activities, and many trips to the casino mostly to eat the lobster, steak, and crab buffet, and play a little.

In his final years his memory was so sharp, he spent his time making new friends that loved to spend time with him and hear his stories from the past and present. He brought joy and smiles too many. He loved to talk and became everyone’s “favorite” patient. Any plans had to work around The Price is Right and the Wheel of Fortune. He went to church every Sunday by watching Pastor Robert Jefrees First Baptist Dallas. To finish well, he took a serious look at his life and salvation and wanted to make sure he was going to heaven. Through many conversations he let us know he was headed to heaven if God would have him. I am sure he is expecting to see all of you there, so you better get it right.

Cecil is survived by his wife Johnnie Erwin Parsons Campbell of Caddo Mills, her children GT Parsons (Tia) of Caddo Mills, TX, Knel Gandy of Rockwall, TX and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His son Cecil Clifton Campbell (Sue) of Sinking Springs Pennsylvania, his daughter Sabrina Stobnicki (Ben) of Mt. Pleasant, TX, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His brother Tommy Campbell of Como TX, and a very special cousin Alasca Edwards of Princeton TX.

Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, Gerrie Ann Davis Campbell, his grandson Benedict Conrad Stobnicki Jr. his father Cecil Taylor Campbell, mother Willie Cardelia Gaskey Campbell Rhodes, his grandmother that raised him Dessie Jane Posey Campbell and many other loved ones.

  1. To the family of Cecil Campbell I am so sorry for your loss. I love Cecil as a bro and I’m going to miss him. We grew up together and I have fond memories of him and me going to football games. He always looked out for me as if I was his little sister. Until we meet again in heaven I loved you.
