Verna Ganelle "Nell" StevensDaingerfield - Services for Verna Ganelle "Nell" Stevens, 94, of Daingerfield, will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2011, at the Veal Switch Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Butch Shipp & Curt Beadle officiating. Interment will follow in the Daingerfield Cemetery under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Mrs. Stevens was born July 1, 1917 in Daingerfield, Texas and died Thursday, September 15, 2011 in Longview. She was a member of Veal Switch Missionary Baptist Church, she was a life time member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, worked as a sales clerk for John T. Key General Merchandise, McKellers Dept. store & Irvin Hardware.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Stevens; brothers, J.W., Obert & Wayman Chapman; sister, Dorothy Drew. Survivors include, daughter & son in law, Wyvonna & Eddie Vinson of Daingerfield, Texas; son & daughter in law, Ronald & JoAnn Stevens of Richmond, Texas; grandchildren, Christy Horton Mitrisin of El Paso, Texas, Cindy Horton Staub of Commerce, Texas, Lisa Talley of Daingerfield, Texas, David Stevens of Katy, Texas, Ronda Husselman of Richmond, Texas, Gregg Stevens of Chicago; & 8 great-grandchildren.Family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. I always cherish the times I went to see her with Christy and visiting with her in later years too. she was a wonderful lady and she so loved her grand children.   4. Nanny – she was strong, feisty, wise, & always kind. I was fortunate to know Nanny through her family that I love so dearly & Nanny was a blessing to know & love. May we all be together one day in heaven.
