Ty "Sunshine" Byrd

August 22, 2005 ~ July 11, 2026

Born in: Mount Pleasant, Texas
Resided in: Daingerfield, Texas

Ty Michael Byrd, age 20, passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2026. Born on August 22, 2005, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Ty was the beloved son of Mikey and Kristi Byrd. From the moment he entered this world, he brought joy to those around him with his
infectious smile, kind heart, and adventurous spirit.

Ty loved the outdoors and cherished every opportunity to hunt, fish, and play golf with his dad and brother. Those days spent together in a deer stand, on the water, or walking the fairways became treasured memories that his family will forever hold close. Above all else, Ty loved his family. Whether sharing a meal, celebrating milestones, or simply spending time together, nothing meant more to him than being surrounded by those he loved.

Ty was also an extraordinary athlete whose determination and competitive spirit were evident in everything he did. On the track, he was known for his incredible speed. He loved to run, and once the starting gun sounded, there was nothing holding him back. He ran every race with determination, heart, and an unwavering desire to give his very best.

Baseball was one of Ty’s greatest passions. He possessed exceptional natural talent, but what truly set him apart was his commitment to improving every day. He worked tirelessly to become the best player he could be, earning the respect of coaches, teammates, and competitors alike through his work ethic, humility, and love for the game.

More than his accomplishments in sports, Ty was known for his love for others. He had a servant’s heart, a contagious smile, and a gift for making people feel welcome. He lived his life with kindness, integrity, and faith.

Ty had a way of making people laugh exactly when they needed it most. He could lighten the mood with a perfectly timed joke or a clever comment that left everyone smiling. His sense of humor was one of God’s gifts to him, and he shared it generously. He made ordinary moments unforgettable simply by being himself.

The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Ty fought hard in everything he did. Whether it was on the baseball diamond, a track, a golf course, or in life itself, he gave everything he had. And while his race on earth ended much sooner than we ever imagined, his faith reminds us that this is not goodbye forever.

Ty was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Coy and Faye Payne, and his maternal great-grandmothers, Sue Sloan and Mary Banks.

He is survived by his parents Mikey and Kristi Byrd, sister Kelbi Byrd, and younger brother Cullen Byrd. Grandparents Mike & Jackie Byrd, and Joe and Penny Banks. His niece, Kendal Mendez, and nephew, Christian Byrd. His aunts Teri Farmer and Kasi Banks and cousins Kailey and Lindey Farmer, MaKayla and Tanner Foster and the love of his life Morgan Hill along with numerous relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am Friday, July 17, 2026 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 12176 US HWY 259, Ore City, Texas 75683 with Bro. Curtis Epnett officiating.
