Tim Nix
Tim Nix from Beaumont, Texas passed away in a Houston hospital at the age of eighty years old from brain cancer. Tim grew up in Jenkins and graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1961. He was a member of the Daingerfield Tiger football team and played basketball. He also attended South Union Missionary Baptist Church. After graduation Tim was on the professional bowling tour for several years where he won many tournaments that were broadcast live on television. In his later years, he became an avid pool player where he also received many awards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W. C. (Bill) Nix and Pearl Lyles Nix of Daingerfield. Truman Nix of Brownwood, twin siblings, Wayne and Wilma Nix of Daingerfield, one nephew, Scotty Nix of Fort Worth, and niece, Lana Nix of Brownwood. Tim is survived by his only living sibling, W. C. (Dub) Nix, Jr., and wife Carolyn Nix of Gunter. He is also survived by many special nephews and nieces. W. C. Nix III and Jennifer from Fort Worth, Preston and Mary Beth Nix from Heath, Allen and Terri Nix from Waco, and Dennis and Paula Nix from Daingerfield. Also, Tammy Nix Adcock and husband Brad from Rhome, Sheila Nix Hammond and husband, Dennis from Lone Star, Mandi Nix from Waco, and longtime, special friend of the Nix family, Darla Phillips from Daingerfield.
A special memorial service was held at the beautiful home of W.C. and Carolyn Nix in Gunter, Texas on Saturday, June 8th. Pastor Dennis Garner from Gunter officiated the service and was assisted by W. C. (Dub) Nix, Jr. His ashes will be scattered on the Nix family farm in Jenkins at a later date.
