A celebration of the life of Thomas “TJ” Jerry Hodge, 79, of Hughes Springs, TX will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2023, with Minister Michael Green, nephew, officiating. Services will be held at Mauriceville Church of Christ in Orange, Texas. Honoring his requests, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Horn Family at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield.
Mr. Hodge was born on August 1, 1943, to William and Sylvia Hodge. He passed away on Saturday evening, June 17, 2023, at his residence. He met the love of his life, Margaret Hodge, at the young age of 18 and they were married for over 60 years. After they were married, he worked for Levingston Ship Building Company for over 20 years and then he owned TJ’s Grocery in Crystal Beach, TX for many years before going to work for his brother at Hodge’s Food Basket in the Woodlands from where he retired. He loved his family very much and was a hard worker, loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Hodge was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Hodge and his brother Jimmy Lee Hodge. He was survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debra Wilkerson and R. W. “Jr.” of Hughes Springs; son and daughter-in-law, James Hodge and Angela of Orange; grandchildren, Jennifer Hodge, James Hodge, Jr., and his wife Natalie, Jared Hodge, Jeffrey Hodge, Katlyn Pirtle and her husband Noah, and Jasmine Wilkerson; great-grandchildren Julia Hodge and Jonah Pirtle; and many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Hodge and his wife Wanda, brother David Hodge, and sister Mary Counts, along with many nieces and nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all!
Flowers and gifts will need to be sent to the church between noon and 2:00 P.M. on Saturday the 24th or ordered at Market Basket in Mauriceville, Texas and they will deliver to the service.
