Samantha "Mandy" Denise Vazquez

Samantha "Mandy" Denise Vazquez was born in Key West, Florida, on March 26, 1970 to Samuel and Carolyn Mccord. She passed away at the age of 54 on October 22, 2024. In the early 1970s, Mandy and her family moved to Texas. She attended Daingerfield high school and graduated in the class of 1988. In college, she was a member of the Tau Beta Sigma Sorority; which would be a reason she would go on to be a lover of turtles. She graduated from Letourneau with her Masters Degree. She had a passion for teaching and kids. She taught at Daingerfield, Mt. Pleasant, Paul Pewitt, and Dekalb school districts. She met and married her lifelong husband, Tomas, in 1995 and had three children. She had a many desires in life such as: piano, crochet, and Wally's world (Walmart). She was an avid Monopoly Go player. She also enjoyed spending days at the lake with her family. She loved to serve her churches, as she was a youth leader at Lone Star Baptist Church and Liberty Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Carolyn McCord. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tomas; daughters, Jessica Vazquez, Julie Vazquez, Kacee Vazquez; sister, Kristy Brown and her husband, Jerry; grandchildren, Miguel Vazquez, Ayzen Flores, Elijah Roberson, Xavier Flores; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2024, in the chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Lone Star Baptist Church. Interment will take place at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Hughes Springs, Texas.
