A celebration of the life of Roland Day, 69, of Lone Star will be held at 11 AM, Saturday morning, September 23, 2023 in the Chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield with Mark White of Daingerfield Church of Christ officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM prior to the service. Honoring his requests, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Horn Family. Mr. Day was born on September 9, 1954 in Greene County, MO to Ward and Virginia Day. He passed away early Sunday morning, September 17, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Day played football and was a graduating member of Ozark High School Class of 1973. He proudly served his country with the US NAVY where he visited many countries. For his dedicated service, Mr. Day will receive full military honors presented by the American Legion Post 351 Honor Guard from Hughes Springs. He loved fishing and outdoors and enjoyed the hobby of radio controlled cars. He was preceded in death by his parents; prior wife, Beverly Day; brother, Dale Day; grandparents, Herschel (Shorty) and Paulene Jones, John and Alma Day. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 19 years, Maxine Day of Lone Star; daughters, Christy Harness of Missouri, Norma Sullivan of Daingerfield, Janice Benavides, Frances Johnson, Stacey Merkley; son, Donnie Sims; granddaughter, Bailey Harness; brother, Verl Day (Cindy) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sisters, Janette Weathermon (Jack) of Hurley, MO; Glenda Allen (Roger) of Marionville, MO, Renee Evans (Roger), Willard, MO. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in honor of Mr. Day to: B.U.D.D.Y. Organization, PO BOX 331, Daingerfield, Texas 75638.

This is just a FYI Roland was also my step dad My mother Beverly Day married him and they were together for many many years I’m sorry that none of us was mentioned in the obituary but we are still around Roland had grandkids with his name and great grandchildren it wasn’t raised by Roland but I did visit an awful lot got the opportunity to meet Christy when she was little had some amazing vacations with my children in Florida Ozark but I just want to say thank you well and for all you do for my Mom and my Sisters you will be greatly missed Kay
