Robert L. Walton, 73, of Daingerfield was born on December 19, 1949 in Durham, NC to Alfred and Mary Walton. He passed away early Saturday morning, December 2, 2023 in a Longview hospital. Mr. Walton proudly served his country with the United States NAVY during the Vietnam War, having spent most of his time on the USS Constellation. When he left the NAVY, he continued to follow his heart for service by serving his community in law enforcement. He worked for a few departments throughout his years of service including the Pittsburg Police Department in 1975, the Daingerfield Police Department from 1977 ~ 1979, Lone Star Police Department until 1989 and he served in security at the T&N Warehouse. Mr. Walton was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Daingerfield. A loving husband and father, Mr. Walton was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary W. Walton. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sherry Earlene Wilson- Walton of Daingerfield; son, Chad Walton of Daingerfield; brothers, Jim Walton of Pittsburg, James Walton of Daingerfield and several nieces and nephews. Honoring his requests, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Horn Family at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Bobby and I knew him as Zoonie. He and Bobby lived together for a while in Daingerfield during Bobby’s college years, so I remember him as young, healthy and full of smiles.
