Rickie Asbury

Rickie Stewart Asbury graced this world with his presence on January 7, 1948, in Bluefield, West Virginia. Rickie passed away peacefully at the age of 55 in Longview, Texas on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 leaving behind a legacy characterized by kindness, a caring nature, and a vibrant sense of humor.

Rickie completed his education in Roanoke, West Virginia, before honorably serving in the U.S. Navy. His diligence and commitment continued in his civilian life as an Expeditor and Dispatcher for T&N Warehouse, roles in which he excelled and shaped his professional identity.

He shared 55 wonderful years with his wife, Sandy Asbury of Daingerfield. The couple cherished their moments together, often spent amidst the tranquility of their back porch, where Rickie loved to feed the birds and squirrels and bask in the serenity of nature.

A proud father and grandfather, Rickie’s family was his joy. In addition to his loving wife, he is also survived by his son, Robby Asbury of Daingerfield; granddaughters Lizzie Buteau of Daingerfield, Aubri Wilbanks of Longview, and Gabby Asbury of Hallsville; and grandsons Duncan Asbury of Daingerfield, Seth Grimes of Daingerfield, Morgan Asbury of Paris, Zachary Asbury of Seattle, WA, and Bailey Asbury of Fort Worth. His sisters, Freda and Reba, and brother-in-law, Bill Baxter of Daingerfield, also survive him.

Rickie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Asbury; his grandmother, Myrtle Williams; and his sister, Rita Poe.

Rickie Stewart Asbury will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and a gentleman who lived his life with unyielding patriotism and an unquenchable love for the natural world. His gentle presence and infectious laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2025 in the Chapel of Horn Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM prior to the service.
