Peggy Joe Banks, 88, of Daingerfield, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025. She was born on November 15, 1937, in Daingerfield, where she remained a lifetime resident and a cherished member of the community.

Peggy devoted more than 50 years of her professional life to the First National Bank of Daingerfield, now known as Texas Heritage Bank. She retired after a long and dedicated career, and her passion was within her role as a teller. She loved the daily interactions with customers and took great pride in serving her neighbors and friends.

An avid golfer, Peggy especially enjoyed spending time on the course at the Daingerfield Country Club. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Daingerfield, which she considered her home church. Above all else, Peggy treasured her family and friends, who were the center of her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Harold Banks; her parents, Thomas Henry Moore and Thelma Harwood; her brother, Tommy Moore; and her sister, Betty Betty.

She is survived by her sons, David Banks and wife Janet of Katy, Texas, Stephen Banks and wife Virginia of Sulphur Springs, Texas; her grandchildren, Scott Banks and wife Abby of Norman, Oklahoma, Mallory Banks of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Ashley Foster and husband Mike of Houston, Texas, Travis Cooper and wife Priscilla of Katy, Texas, Kia Cooper and husband Kyle Conrath of Cypress, Texas and Stuart Cooper of Katy, Texas; and her great-grandchildren, Jude Banks, Birdie Banks, Lincoln Cooper, Jakob Foster, Evan Foster, and Emerson Foster. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Daingerfield Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Horn Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
