Peggy Ann Crabtree Maxey, born November 23, 1934, to MT and Bessie Crabtree in Van Zandt
County, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024.
In 1952, Peggy married Jimmy Allen Maxey, with whom she shared a loving partnership until his
untimely passing in 1982. Together, they raised two beloved daughters, Tami and Patti, instilling
in them the values of love and dedication.
A devoted member of Jenkins United Methodist Church, Peggy found joy in singing in the choir
and serving her church in various capacities. Her passions extended beyond the church; she
cherished deer hunting in Colorado with her husband and friends, adored recalling and writing
stories of her adventures, painting beautiful scenery, reading a good book and always loved
cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all of their endeavors.

Rick Rocha. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Dustin Belk (Brandy), Vanessa Murphy
(James), and Lindsay Smith, as well as her great-grandchildren: Damon (Hannah) Belk; Mason
Belk; Tucker Ratley; Jace Ratley; Bryce Ratley; Boston Smith; and Britain Smith. One great-
great grandchild, Ivy Belk.
Peggy, affectionately known as Moll, Ganny and BaBa will be missed by us all, as we have
been blessed to have her with us for many years.

chapel of Horn Nail Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield, TX. Visitation will take place
immediately prior to the service at 10 AM at the funeral home.

Oh, Patti and Tami, I am so sorry to hear about Peggy! Susie Moses shared this with me because she knew I’d want to know. She was such a special lady to our “Jack Sprat”, as she called him.
I know he would have been there for her if he had been here. Instead, he is kicking up his heels to see his friend in heaven, I’m confident. And they are giving someone a hard time about any number of things!!
Peggy was special to us all. And you both were special girls to her. God bless you All. And as Jack would say, “Peg, come on and help me pick up some cow patties for the Captain Daingerfield Days.”
So sorry to hear of the passing of Peggy. She was such a precious and talented woman. Prayers for peace and comfort for Tami and Patti and for her many friends and loved ones.
Your sweet Momma is finally in Heaven with your Dad and my parents! Where do I begin? We have so many precious memories of growing up together and the fun things our crazy parents created for us to do! I was always excited when we visited y’all! Sliding down hills on flat cardboard boxes! Camping! Hanging up paper plates to keep flies away? I could write a book! Peggy Annie will be missed by all of us but it is a comfort knowing that she is pain free and happy! We love all of you!
Sweet Tenderness was purchased for the family of Peggy Ann Maxey.
