Mike Floyd
Mike Floyd
January 8, 1949 ~ May 4, 2025
Mike Floyd, 76, of Cason, was born on January 8, 1949, in Naples to John Morris and Marion Lucille Mosier Floyd. He passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at his home while surrounded by his loving family.
Mike graduated from Daingerfield Lone Star ISD with the Class of 1967. He worked as a welder at US Steel. Mike had a big passion for guns. He loved to shoot trap, skeet, and sporting clays, and built a trap house on the farm used by any kids wanting to learn to shoot trap. He loved being “Pawpaw” to the many kids who spent hours on the trap field trying to shoot the top out of a tree he never particularly liked that much while honing their skills. He also enjoyed working on their guns, helping each of “his” kids with their fit, stance, and style of shooting. One of his greatest joys came from watching his grandson, JT, shoot in competition or with his friends. Mike did custom hay bailing and operated heavy equipment around his farm and for others, helping clear their property and putting ponds in.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Cindy Richardson Floyd. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jan Floyd of Cason; daughter, Cresta LeFevre and husband Cory of Cason; grandson’s, JT LeFevre of Cason and Jett Morris of Marietta; granddaughter, Mylee Morris of Marietta; brother, Robert “Bubba” Floyd of Cason; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday May 6, 2025 in the chapel of Horn Nail Haggard funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta with Bro. Scott Darby and Daniel Mills officiating. Services are under the direction of Horn Nail Haggard funeral home of Daingerfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cason Volunteer Fire Department.
