Michael "Mike" Edward Wood
December 8, 1977 ~ December 17, 2024
Michael "Mike" Edward Wood was born on December 8, 1977 in Longview, Texas. At the age of 47, he passed away on December 17, 2024.
Mike had never met a stranger that he wouldn't help. Mike had a great soul and was easy to get along with. He had a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. He will be missed tremendously. Words can not describe the pain we are all feeling. Mike would want us to be happy, joke around, tell his funny stories, and be there for his family. Mike loved his job as he spent many years on the road as a truck driver. His pride and joy was being able to drive his lime green truck.
He is preceded in death by his grand parents, Jerry and Alma Wood; and mother-in-law, Georgia Dowden. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 22 years, Desiree Wood; children, Jayce Dowden, Kane Wood, Kaidence Wood; grandson, Tommy Wood; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A memorial service for Mike will be held in the chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Arrangements have been entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.

I’ll never forget the time my Daddy, I think, brought home a baby duck for Michael. He was outside playing with his new friend and laughing having a great time. After a bit we noticed him smushing the little duck with his hand. As we got up to run save the duckling, Michael got up from the ground wipe the dirt off his hands and realizing the duck was dead, his Pawpaw says , what happen why you do that Michael. And with this serious look on his face he says…. ” He pooped on me so I squooshed him,”. He turned around went in the house and that was the end of that. We laughed so hard and he never mentioned the baby duck again
Rest in peace and remember we all love you. What a joyous reunion you must be having with PawPaw and Grandma
