Matthew S. Buck Sr., 53 of Longview, formerly of Pennsylvania, was born on June 4, 1971, to Donald Buck and Donna Brown. He passed away on November 18, 2024, in Longview. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024,at the Midlothian Funeral Home Chapel, in Midlothian, Texas. A visitation will follow immediately after the service. Burial will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. The funeral is under the direction of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield. He is survived by his children, Macie, Matthew, and Deven Buck, as well as his grandson, Myles Johnson. Matthew graduated from Canton High School in 1989. Matthew proudly served in the United States Navy from July 19, 1989, to April 5, 1993, during Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and the Persian Gulf War. He loved hunting, shooting guns, and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a Mason thru the Lodge in Canton, PA. He was the Vice President of the Law Dogs, a Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. He worked for the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, for over 29 years. During his career, he served as a DCT leader, lead firearms instructor, and a member of the Crisis Management Team. He retired as the Captain of FMC Ft Worth. Family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

  4. The first time I saw you, you were on a lawn mower cutting grass during Covid. I asked who is that cutting grass at 5am in the morning? They said Captain Buck. You were a great leader that lead by example. Not only were you a great leader but you cared about your people beyond the gates. Thank you for your love and support. You will truly be missed.
