Marlene Spencer
Marlene Spencer
October 31, 1948 ~ September 9, 2024
Marlene Spencer, 75, formerly of Daingerfield was born on October 31, 1948 in Naples to Carnon and Eula Spencer. She passed away the morning of September 9, 2024 in Fredericksburg, Tx. She fought a brave battle against Lupus, COPD, and Congestive Heart Failure. She is now at peace with our Heavenly Father, and our family members who have preceded her.
Marlene graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1967, afterwards she attended Beauty School in Mt. Pleasant, Tx. Marlene practiced her profession as a hairdresser in Daingerfield, several years, and Dallas, where she made her home for over fifty years. During her lifetime and career she made many friends, which came quite naturally to her. Many of those friends are and were from Daingerfield; and also made many friends in the Dallas area and more who are scattered throughout the state. Besides her career, Marlene had hobbies and interests which included photography, picture framing, and creating stained glass art. She grew up loving music and dancing and later in life she attended concerts, carrying her Nikon camera determined to capture photos of her favorite performers, such as the Everly Brothers, Chuck Barry, Bo Diddley, Del Shannon, Bob Marley and several other. She had a knack and ability to persuade security persons to allow her close to some performers for photos.
Marlene was my sister and my best friend for all my life. She loved life, loved her friends. She always had a story to share with you. She will be missed by everyone who shared time with her.
A Gathering for Remembrance of Marlene will be held on October 19, 2024 at The Postmark,114 Webb Street, Daingerfield, Texas, 75638 from noon until 3 p.m. Refreshments and sandwiches will be served.

Marlene was one of the only true friends my brother ever had. She never used him as some of his “friends” did and always encouraged him to make better choices–though he rarely listened. Upon his death, she went with us to scatter his ashes in front of the lake house my parents used to own (new owners gave permission) on a cold rainy day in January. She was a good person.”
I have so many fond memories of Marlene. The dances at the old Gym, swimming at the state park, and going to concerts. She was always there to give me a haircut when Sam Johnson sent me home from DHS. What a good friend! I will miss her.
i was 14 when i went to beauty school with Marlene. i went on weekends and school vacations. at that time, i was still a shy kid. lol. i thought she was the prettiest girl i’d ever seen. and just as sweet as she could be. i learned more from just watching her work than i did from the school. i lost track of her after beauty school. i sure hated to see her obituary, but i remembered her right off. more than 50 yrs later. prayers to ya’ll…
Thank you Rosalyn for you kind thoughts. Steve and Marlene were great friends. Steve had a heart as big as Texas and they didn’t mind too much. If there are cars in Heaven I bet they are riding around together now.❤️
I meant to say..they didn’t mind putting up with me too much.
Thank you so much Artie and thank you for giving her the last smile we saw her make.❤️

Marlene was beautiful inside and out and I loved her unique laugh. She loved my Mom and gave her the appropriate nickname of “sister Charlene” lol
