Mark Earl Humphrey

Hughes Springs, Texas – Mark Earl Humphrey, 63, a lifelong resident of Hughes Springs, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, October 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2025, at Hughes Springs Cemetery with Pastor Andy Hill of Mobberly Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Horn Family Funeral Home of Daingerfield.

The family will receive friends following the service.

He was born September 6, 1962, in Pittsburg, Texas, to Robert and Betty (Bullard) Humphrey. He was a 1982 graduate of Hughes Springs High School, working throughout school at Dewey Moore Ford. Later, he attended Texas State Technical Institute (TSTI) of Waco.

At the age of 20, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving overseas. He received the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Navy Expeditionary Medal (Lebanon). Following active duty, he remained in the Naval Reserves.

For dedicated service to his country, he will receive full military honors at the graveside.

Employed by Supreme Plastics in Gladewater, he specialized in the fabrication of plastic moldings, traveling across the United States for a multinational technology company and medical supply companies to produce industrialized plastics. Later, he joined Certified Can Machine Company of Gilmer.

He was a believer in Jesus Christ and studied the Bible for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed drawing, and creating model cars of the automobiles he and his friends drove in high school.

He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents Robert and Lorena Humphrey; and maternal grandparents Ray and Wyvern Bullard. He is survived by his mother, Betty, of Hughes Springs; sister, Gina Humphrey, of Hughes Springs; brother, David Humphrey, Jenna and Abby of Pittsburg; niece, Brittany Humphrey, Makenna and Elijah of Austin, Minnesota; and numerous cousins and friends.

The family wishes to thank his caring neighbor, Patsy Abernathy, for her many expressions of kindness.
