Marcell Jones, 96, of Daingerfield was born on January 9, 1928 in Naples to Lumos and Georgie Gibson. She passed away on Wednesday evening, July 3, 2024 in a Daingerfield nursing facility. Mrs. Jones worked for Texas Instruments for over 30 years, having started as a key punch operator before becoming a computer operator. She had a heart for helping others that were in need. One of the messages her son took from his raising was to "be a good boy" and she instilled in all of her children to always "do the right thing." Later in life she loved to visit the VFW for good music and to dance. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Doris Floyd and Altie Welborn. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Floyd of Daingerfield; sons, Terry Jones of Cumming, GA and Neal Jones of Rowlett; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held in the Chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home at 10 AM Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Burial will take place in Veal Switch Cemetery in Hughes Springs. The family requests memorial contributions be made in her honor to: Lord's Pantry, 207 Coffey St., Daingerfield, Texas 75638.

  1. Gonna miss my girl Marcell. Gonna miss her tugging on my clothes, pointing out what I missed in the floor and her laugh. It was a honor to have helped take care of her.

Marcell was one of my favorite from the the springs nursing home,Marcell was a spit fire i will truly miss her and about a week ago I’ve have always called her my meanness as a joke and one day last week she said “I DONT KNOW WHY SHE CALLS ME MEANNESS IM SWEET SO MY NEXT DAY TO WORK I WALKED UP AND CALLED HER MY SWEETNESS AND KISSED ON FOREHEAD LIKE IVE DONE FOR YEARS AND MARCELL LOOKED UP AT ME AND SMILED AND SAID THATS BETTER!!! LOVE U MY SWEETNESS UR TRULY GONNA BE MISSED!!!!

  3. I remember Aunt Cowboy from when I was a young girl. Hadn’t been around her much since growing up and having kids, life sometimes gets in the way of so many things. Wish we had of known, would of liked to have paid our respect. Prayers for her children and grandchildren.
