Larry Loyd was born to Will D. and Janie Loyd on February 24, 1943. He passed away Sunday morning, May 11, 2025 in a Hughes Springs nursing facility. He attended school in Hughes Springs, Texas and Tyler Barber School in Tyler, Texas. After completing Barber School, he returned to Hughes Springs and worked as a barber. He was drafted into the Army and served in Viet Nam. After serving his country, he returned home to Hughes Springs. With the time of long hair the style, he went to work for the Northeast Texas Water Filter Plant and retired from there. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping his neighbors. He was a Baptist and believed in serving others.
He married Gaynelle Hackler and three children were born, with all of them dying at birth or soon after.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and their three children, his brother-in-law and a nephew. He is survived by two sisters, Martha Breedlove of Lumberton, Texas and Nancy Loyd of Daingerfield, Texas, several nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and several cousins.
The family would like to thank Capstone Nursing facility for their excellent care for the last years of his life and Choice Hospice, especially Leslie Boswell Norsworthy, who guided us through the last week.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Hughes Springs Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
