Joy Williamson
August 13, 1932 ~ December 6, 2023
Eunice Joy Williamson, 91, of Daingerfield Texas, was born in Lydia to William and Lillie Tutt on August 13, 1932. She passed away on December 6, 2023. We will be honoring Joy's wishes for cremation. Joy worked for many years at Knieff's Department Store in Daingerfield and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star#906. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Daingerfield. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 AM Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Fellowship Baptist Church of Daingerfield with Bro. Doye Wilbanks officiating. Services have been entrusted to the Horn family at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Williamson and Ricky Joe Williamson. Those that remain to cherish her memories include her grandson, Joseph Williamson of Austin formerly of Daingerfield; niece, Carolyn Johnson of Avinger and nephew, Billy Mitchell of Fort Smith, AR.

Mrs. Williamson was an amazing lady with an unshakable Faith In God.
An amazing example of what True Faith In God looks like on this Earth that I can only aspire to live up to…….
Her life was filled with tragedies.
As no Parent should have to do, she had to bury both of her sons; one of whom was a very close friend of mine.
I was with Ricky Joe at the High School in Daingerfield when we found out about his older brother Michael’s tragic demise in a car versus motorcycle accident……
It took us nearly 90 seconds to get from the High School to Mrs. Williamson’s house……
Those kinds of tragedies occurring when you are just a teenager shakes up your life and makes you grow up fast……
I will never forget Mrs. Williamson’s quiet grace and unshakable Faith in the midst of that tragedy……
Unfortunately, Ricky Joe passed away while I was at work in Alaska and I was not able to attend his funeral…..
My next time home from work, Beth and I spent several hours with Mrs. Williamson at her home……
She was exactly as I had remembered her. Humble, Kind and still with that Unshakable Faith In God…….

Such a dear sweet lady. My mother use to work with Joy at Kneiff’s. My husband Greg mowed her lawn and did a variety of jobs for her. Joy was always so sweet and kind. She will be missed.
Joy was a very kind and thoughtful person. She was also attractive. Her home community of Mt. Zion in Oklahoma remembers her well. She was a good daughter and sister to her loved ones.
I will miss her so much. She was a good friend & listener! We named our son after her son, Michael. My husband, Billy, & Michael were best friends. She certainly went through a lot of sadness in her life. But she had so much faith in God to get her through it! Yes, I will miss her. She was a good Christian lady.
Joy was a beautiful soul. When I was little I wanted be just like her. She was always so kind to me. We shared stories about a preacher that we both watched on TV. Joy had her own opinion of everything but she had a kind heart and soul. I’ll look for her when I get Heaven because I know she was ready and prepared to go there.

OUR journey together began 35 years ago. That ol’ vinyl record player of yours called for my best gospel records and you shared that big ol’ beautiful son of yours with me. I couldn’t imagine being ANYWHERE ELSE.
THANK YOU for being my mother in law and giving me two awesome men and loving My son. I know.sharing him was hard with the little time we had. Heaven is sounding sweeter. Got to have a mother in law longer than most, in that alone, I AM BLESSED.
