February 5, 1943 ~ July 1, 2024

Johnny Mack Brown, age 81, was born on February 5, 1943, to Edmond & Mattie Brown in Talco, Tx. He passed away July 1, 2024 in a Daingerfield nursing facility. He attended Talco high school and played football. He lived a simple life with simple things but was rich with his love of the land. He learned at a very young age how to hunt fish. He used those skills throughout his life to provide for his family. He was a master gardener which ensured his family was never hungry or went without. He loved his family so much and you could tell by his many stories about them. He was a proud man; proud of his accomplishments. He went from being a poor bootlegger son to a thriving businessman, Pastor, Justice of the Peace, Invited to the Masonic Lodge, and board member. He had many friends and he loved them all like family. The most fun he had as a Pastor was performing marriage ceremonies. He’d see a couple and grin a little and say, “I married them”. He was a woodsman, a painter, a lover of the land, a pretty great mechanic, could fulfill any of mom’s home improvement requests. He had so much character as you can see in the slideshow. There was never, ever a dull moment when he was around and that is what he thrived on. One particular character he had was his love of entertaining and how fitting is it that he waited until July to go out with a bang! His 4th of July barbeque/golf tournament/treasure hunts were unprecedented and for the family. Those who knew him loved him and his presence on Earth will be missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Connie Lou Brown; brothers, Weldon Brown, Douglas Brown; sisters, Paline Brown, Jerldine Goss, Barbara Sue Evans, Bobbie Ruth Freeman; grandson, Gregory Chase Holt. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Niki Lower and husband Frank, Melissa Kirkpatrick; granddaughters, Lacy Boyd and husband Kyle, Miranda Santiago, Sarah Postrorino, Bianca Lower; numerous great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Johnny Macks life will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Horn Nail Haggard Funeral Home Chapel in Daingerfield.

  1. Let me tell you if you grew up and you didn’t get to know Johnny Mac you missed out of one of the special people that God gave don’t make many of like that! Everyday that you were around him you would see more and more past the jokes and funny stories he had a heart made of gold ! He was what I call a sneaky preacher you could be mad and cursing and he would get right in there with you but his words were a lil different and before long out would come one of his stories that had something to do with why I was mad and he would hide a message in there that would hit you later! He was a godly man for sure and never met a stranger and he took a license to me because he knew my daddy he thought he could out tell his stories and make me look bad and every now and then I would let him tell a better one ! Ole brother im glad you back to 100 % health and tell the family we will see them soon! RIP
