Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Nail-Haggard Funeral Home Chapel.John was born on May 11, 1942 in Houston to James Robert Rivers, Sr. and Juanita Callicoatte Rivers. He died on Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Daingerfield.John was retired from Lone Star Steel and enjoyed fishing, gardening cooking and golfing. He also collected Indian artifacts. He was preceded in death by his parents, son John Rivers, Jr. and a nephew Frank Thompson.Survived by his daughter, Julie Rivers of Daingerfield; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Mike Truitt of Daingerfield; brother, James R. Rivers, Jr. of Buckner, Ark.; grandchildren, Clint Baxter, Casey Baxter and Honey Beavers; 4 great grandchildren; nephews and niece, Bobby Rivers, Joe Bob Thompson and Carie Garrett.
