John Forrest
Celebrating the life of John Forrest, who graced this world with his presence on April 18, 1940, in Morris County. John passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. A resident of Daingerfield, Texas, he was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Margie Forrest, and a cherished father to his children, Stephanie Lewis (and husband Roger) of Lone Star, Chris Cato of Omaha, and Jeff Davis of Omaha. John shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with Margie, having tied the knot on December 12, 1979.
John was widely recognized for being hardworking, witty, and consistently putting others before himself. His career as a machinist spanned several reputable companies, including Lone Star Steel, US Steel, A&E Machine Shop, and T&N. John’s commitment extended beyond his professional life; he proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a devout member of the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield, where he was actively involved in the Decker May Sunday School Class. His service to the church also included providing grounds maintenance, general maintenance, and extra security.
John had multiple passions. He was an ardent football fan, cheering with zest for the Dallas Cowboys and the Daingerfield Tigers. Gardening, woodworking, and enjoying the beauty of flowers were among his favorite pastimes. Beyond all, John was a man who loved his family profoundly. Known for his ever-present whistle and his knack for fixing anything with WD-40, he was a true handyman and a joyful presence in the lives of all who knew him.
In addition to hie loving wife and children, his legacy also lives on through his joyful grandchildren: Anthony, Ella, Ryan Sisneros, Gentry, Baylor, Bristol, and Case Lewis. He also leaves behind a loving brother, Rex Forrest (and wife Bonnie) of Texarkana, and a sisters-in-law, Martha Forrest of Longview and Doris Davis of Daingerfield.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Nila Forrest, and his brothers, Roy Allen Forrest and Glynn Nix Forrest (and wife Patricia).
