Jo Ann Phillips Crossland

jo ann crossland

October 3, 1959 ~ June 20, 2025

Jo Ann Phillips Crossland was born to Jo and Norris Phillips on October 3, 1959. Jo Ann passed unexpectedly at her home on June 20, 2025. At 65 years old she is survived by her husband, Mark Crossland; her two sons, Elton Crossland and Randy Crossland and wife Denise; her mother, Jo Phillips; her brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and La Rae Phillips; her sister and brother-in-law, Vanessa and Floyd Carpenter; her seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Seth, Josh, Hayden, Penelope, Alexis, and Zoey; and three great grandchildren, Elijah, Delilah, and Jacob. Jo Ann graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1976, completing her studies in just three years. She married Mark Allen Crossland on August 12th of 1977. The birth of her first son, Elton, in 1979 began her journey into motherhood and four years later she was blessed with the birth of her second son, Randy. Jo Ann not only loved and cared for her own sons, but impacted countless lives in her twenty plus years working for Daingerfield Lonestar ISD. Jo Ann was a smart and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Sitting outside and watching the birds was one of her favorite things to do. She loved a good book, shopping, playing cards, and Wahoo. An outing with her closest girlfriends would always bring a smile to her face and a bit of trouble for all. Jo Ann's greatest joy probably came with her title as Meme. She cherished time with her grand and great grandchildren and loved watching them play sports. Her warm heart, beautiful smile, and memories will always be with us. "Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day, Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear. Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight." -- Rossiter Worthington Raymond The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM, Thursday, June 26, 2025 at South Union Baptist Church in Daingerfield. A celebration of her life will follow at 1:30 PM with Pastor Chad Thompson officiating. Honoring her requests, services have been entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the East Texas Angel Network, or a Children's Hospital. A memorial guestbook may be signed at www.hornnailhaggardfh.com
