Jerry Helm

Jerry Helm, age 80, of Hallsville, Texas, passed away peacefully with his beloved wife of 58 years with Darlene Helm by his side. Born in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Jerry lived a life marked by dedication, service, and deep love for his family. A proud Navy veteran, Jerry went on to serve the federal government for 26 years, leading a committed team with integrity and purpose until his retirement. He and Darlene spent many joyful years in Lakeland, Florida before settling in Hallsville, Texas during his final years. Jerry was a man of many passions. He found joy in playing the piano, deer hunting, going on family trips, and gathering around a poker table with neighbors. But above all, Jerry loved his family deeply. His wisdom, humor, and steadfast love left a lasting mark on all who knew him. He is survived by his daughters, Jodi Strong and Heather Manning (Travis); his cherished granddaughter, Maggie Strong; and his brothers, Jeff Helm (Teri) and Jim Helm (Barb). Jerry’s memory will be carried forward in the stories, music, and moments shared by the family he so loved. A private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to share a favorite memory of Jerry or enjoy a quiet moment at the piano in his honor. Honoring his requests, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield.
