Harley was born on May 20, 1950, in Auburn, California. Throughout his life, he lived in multiple states before settling in Longview, where he spent his final 14 years. A hardworking and skilled man, Harley worked as a construction worker before becoming a welding supervisor at Trinity Industries, where he retired. A true craftsman at heart, Harley had a passion for fabricating steel and was especially proud of the firepits and smokers he built for his children. His love for building was second only to his love for his family. Known by many as a real-life cowboy, Harley embraced the values of honesty and generosity. He was a devoted member of Circle C Cowboy Church in Henderson, where he found fellowship and faith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Deborah Cook of Longview; his daughter Terrie Crawford of Winthrop, Arkansas; his son Larry Cook and wife Melanie of Texarkana, Arkansas; his son Waylan Cook of DeQueen, Arkansas; his daughter Rebecca King of Duncanville, Texas; his daughter Jennifer Rogers and husband Andrew of Pocahontas, Arkansas; his son Jason King and wife Sierra of Black Rock, Arkansas; and his daughter Angela Chadister of Batesville, Arkansas. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, his sister Kathy Wolfe, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of cherished friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Circle C Cowboy Church in Henderson, Texas. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield, Texas.
Harley will be remembered for his kind heart, craftsmanship, and family he leaves behind.
My Dad lived an adventurous life.
He was many things to many people: one of the best welders, a true craftsman. If you could dream it, he could build it.; a real cowboy; hard worker , do or die, to the very end; a husband, Pops, PawPaw, friend and my Daddy. I will miss his wise advice and his philosophies for life live on in my children.
Most importantly, he was a child of God. A believer in Jesus as his personal savior, therefore he is in the presence of the one who came, lived, died and rose again, standing on the right hand of The Father, making intercession for those who have placed their trust in Him awaiting His return.
He would tell you that eternity is real and heaven is real. Don’t miss it by not trusting in The One who loves you the most.
I will miss him, but I am thankful I know I will see him again and he and my beloved Stevie are praising Our Father together.
May his memory be a blessing
Harley was one of the best men I’ve had a privilege to get to know. He was a very hard worker and and the most amazing carpenter I’ve ever seen in my life. He built my tiny home for me in less than a year and a half, and it was too perfectionist, and I have got the best memory of him right here in my house, I grew to love Harley and his wife dearly. I will always remember him and love him and he will greatly be missed.
Debbie- Brandy and I send our love and prayers for you and your family during this heartbreaking time.
