G. C. "Cliff" Wright Longview (formerly of Daingerfield) Services for G. C. "Cliff" Wright, Jr., 89, of Longview, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Daingerfield of Church of Christ, where he was a member and served as an elder for 30 years, with Norman Miller and Tim Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Mr. Wright was born May 2, 1923, in Mexia, Texas, and passed away June 13, 2012, in Longview. He graduated from Overton High School in 1940 and attended Texas A&M University, where he majored in petroleum engineering. He served his country as a B-24 pilot in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Commerative Air Force. He worked at Lone Star Steel Company from 1953 to 1990. He was a member of various clubs related to the steel industry and served as a member of the Daingerfield School Board for 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy Wright of Longview; his three children, Kaye Hill of McKinney, Janis Smith of Keller, and Randy Wright and wife Lori of Mesquite; 5 grandchildren, Jef Smith, Jennifer and Troy Rochat, Jill and Dean Myers, Jared Wright, and Jordan Wright; 2 great-grandchildren, Christopher Ray and Kennedie Smith. Visitation will be at Nail-Haggard Funeral Home, Friday, June 15, 2012, from 6 to 8 pm. Online condolences may be made at Nail-HaggardFH.com

  4. I have such fond memories of working for Mr. Wright. I couldn’t have asked for a better boss. He was always supportive of our efforts, a true southern gentleman. When my daughter decided to become an Air Force pilot, he always remembered to ask how her training was going and what she was flying. I will miss him. Leah Cooper
