Granville Lynn JonesGranville Lynn Jones, 73, of Georgetown, Texas (formerly of Daingerfield, Texas) passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 at Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas surrounded by his family.Lynn was a 1965 graduate of Commerce High School and obtained a Masters of Computer Science in 1973 from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. He worked for 13 years at Lone Star Steel in Lone Star, Texas as an IT Manager. And after several more years working in the field of Information Technology in places like Mississippi, North Carolina and central Texas, he retired to Georgetown, Texas. It was in Georgetown that he found a new passion, working with children as a school bus driver for Georgetown ISD. This job was especially meaningful to him.As a young man, Lynn was an accomplished athlete who played several high school sports, including baseball, basketball, football and tennis. As he got older, his enthusiasm for all things sports-related did not wane. The football pads and baseball bats were eventually retired in favor of golf clubs and fishing rods. And he loved nothing more than cheering on his favorite Texas teams, the Cowboys, the Rangers, the Longhorns and of course, the Daingerfield Tigers.Daingerfield held a special place in his heart, since this is where he raised his daughters. The Daingerfield State Park was a favorite place of his and many days were spent there camping, hiking, fishing and enjoying nature. Lynn was a beloved husband, father and proud grandfather to seven adoring grandchildren. It was his greatest joy to spend time with them and watch his family grow.Lynn is preceded in death by his father Granville Worth Jones and survived by his mother Helen Haletha Jones and brothers Larry Lee Jones and Timothy Wayne Jones. He is also survived by his wife Elizabeth Annette Jones; daughters Melinda Lim, Lisa Jones-Cadriel and Traci Hawkes; grandsons Luke Cadriel, Ryan Lim, Bradley Lim, Gavin Lim, and Quinn "Q-dawg" Cadriel; granddaughters Elizabeth Hawkes and Sara Cadriel.A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 27 at the Nail Haggard Funeral Home Chapel in Daingerfield, Texas.
