Eva Lazelle Kimbrell Alexander
Eva Alexander of Daingerfield, TX was born July 10, 1929 in “Granny’s Neck” in a small community located outside of Cooper, TX. to Vergil Bert Kimbrell and Martha Malinda Patridge. She passed from this life on Friday December 20, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Her favorite childhood memories were being surrounded by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family was always special to her. She loved living on the Kimbrell Farm where she was born and her mother helped bring in the crops and pick up cotton to provide for the family.
She met Marion Leslie (M.L.) Alexander in Midland, TX. They married on July 12, 1947, and moved to Hot Springs, New Mexico, where Eva completed her Senior year. Eva was proud when she was asked to write the first school song in Hot Springs High School. She also sang on the radio with a group called “The Melody Maids.”
Eva and M.L. became members of First Baptist Church Daingerfield in 1953 after M.L. began working at Lone Star Steel. She was very active in working with the Girls Auxiliary at First Baptist Church Daingerfield in the 60’s and served as Director for over a decade. She worked with many young girls who learned scripture to complete the steps to work towards the highest step of “Queen Regent-In Service.” Several years ago, some of the GA’s and previous leaders were invited to come for a reunion, and they all stated that being in GAs had made the most impact in their Christian Walk.
Eva has been a member of Eastern Star Chapter # 906 for 65 years and served as Worthy Matron 4 times while M.L served as Worthy Patron 11 times. Eva was an active member of the Pandora Study Club from 1956 to present (68 years). She shared memories of projects she was proud of including starting the Daingerfield City Library and writing the script for an annual style show and dinner to raise funds for the “Caroline Turner Memorial Scholarship” that was presented to a Senior at Daingerfield High School each year. Eva loved teaching the Naomi Sunday School class at FBC Daingerfield for over 10 years until her health would not allow her to continue.
We want to thank Geraldine Rios who began doing light housekeeping, but as time continued, she offered love and care in more ways than can be mentioned. Because of the faithful service Ms. Alexander was able to stay in her home until the last few weeks. The family was also blessed by the care and support given by each Chambers Hospice providers over the last year. We believe that each one treated our mother like their family.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband M.L. after 69 wonderful years together. Her parents Vergil Bert Kimbrell and Martha Malinda Patridge Reeves, three brothers, Hershel Eugene Kimbrell, Kenneth Wayne Kimbrell, Don Allen Reeves, and one sister Laquita Joy Northam, and a Great-Grandson Tyler David Alexander.
She is survived by her daughter and Son-In-Law Martha and Bobby Baker of Daingerfield, Son and Daughter-In Law Scott and Nita Alexander of Daingerfield, and Sister-In-Law Beverly Reeves of Longview, 5 Grandchildren Amy Smith of Longview, Nicholas Alexander and wife Lisa of Hughes Springs, April Smith of Daingerfield, Caroline Gifford and husband Grant of Keller, TX, Daniel Alexander and wife Alys of Hughes Spring, TX, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The Celebration of Life will be at the FBC Daingerfield Saturday December 28th with visitation starting at 10 am, service at 11 am, and burial will follow at 12 in the Daingerfield Cemetery under the direction of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made the First Baptist Church Benevolent Fund.

Martha Gay and Scott – your Mother was a very fine person and my thoughts are with you.
My Aunt Eva, and I always called her that, was a huge part of my growing life and adult hood. I have so many memories, and I hold them as treasures.
Most of memories were of giggles between us. To me she was hilarious and when we were together it seems we were always up to something. I always took up for her and it made my Cousin Martha mad when she was trying to do the best for her Mother, like when it was time for Aunt Eva not to drive anymore, etc. I would say come on My Aunt Eva, let’s go, you can drive my car. Martha would turn red and we would just giggle. I will greatly miss my somewhat partner in crime. However the only crime she really ever committed was loving her Family, her friends and her community in service.
I will miss her greatly, but I celebrate her healing and see her dancing on streets of gold. 💔😇❤️🩹
Brittani, Megan, Ryan, Nellie, and Trevo purchased the White Poinsettia for the family of Eva Alexander.
I called her Aunt Eva, tho she’s no blood relation to me. When I was little, Aunt Eva and Uncle M.L. lived next door to us on Hughes Ave. I used to walk in her back door like I lived there and she’d just giggle and welcome me….because she loved me.❤️ Throughout my life whenever I would think of someone who inspired me to be better, Aunt Eva was always in my top 5 people. She lived a Godly Christian life like many people don’t know or understand today, and the thing I appreciate most from her is that example she set for me and others. For almost a hundred years she went about her life doing good, setting a beautiful example of how to do it right!
I love you Aunt Eva and I know you are dancing in Heaven with Uncle M.L. living your best life ever! You so deserve it!
