December 18, 1950 ~ August 22, 2018

On Wednesday, August 22,2018, Douglas Durrett quietly ascended into the arms of our Heavenly Father. Doug will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him. He was a loyal and loving son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He worked hard and loved harder. Doug enjoyed nothing more than doting on his loved ones, including the family pets. He was a man who could tell a childhood story in a way that had you feeling like you were part of the memory yourself. He lived to laugh. The endless amount of love and laughter that poured out of such an amazing soul will be forever missed by many. Services will be 4:00pm, Saturday September 15, 2018 at Daingerfield Cemetery with Johnny Coleman officiating. Doug was born December 18, 1950 in Houston, Texas to Daryl Wendell and Ethel Jewel (Jones) Durrett. He was the Warehouse Manager of Special Programs at L-3 Technology for over 30 years. Doug came in my life at a very young age. I was not even a teenager yet. Doug was always picking and joking.. my dad didn’t like many, but he loved Doug.. Doug stood up to be a father figure in my life after my father passed.. that was a job, ha. But he always was there as my friend and hero.. always there for me when I raised my boys.. just like a father.. he meant many things to me.. he had the best heart and the funniest laugh…He will be missed so much. But never ever forgotten.. he will always remain a limb on my family tree.. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful man with us Lord.. I know he’s singing in the angels Chior and cutting up with his father that he loved so much.. I can here both there laughter..
