Dora A. EdmondsonDaingerfield- Funeral services for Dora A. Edmondson, 91 of Daingerfield will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Jenkins United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Irvin officiating. Burial will be in the Daingerfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.Dora was born on January 18, 1923 in Perryville, Ark to Dudley (D.B.) and Mary Smith Rorie. She died on Thursday, June 5, 2014 in Longview.Dora was a member of Jenkins United Methodist Church.On August 12, 1939, Dora married Irvin Charlie Edmondson. They lived in many different places, from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Idaho, before moving to Texas. Dora and Irvin loved to travel. They enjoyed taking the grandkids camping on the Buffalo River, and to Camp Albert Pike, stopping in Hope, Ark. to buy a watermelon of course. After Irvin retired, they took their dream trip and traveled around the country in their van, visiting old friends and making new ones. Their home was always open to friends and family. Many happy days were spent at their home on the lake. Steaks were grilled, ice cream was homemade and the watermelon was chilled. Dora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Junior and T. A. Maroney, sister, Leona Denton, grandson, Chuck Edmondson, two granddaughters, Deborah Edmondson Hibbard and Terri Edmondson Young, and great grandson Daniel Rae.Survived by her son, Jim Edmondson of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynn and Bill Amerson of Hallsville; sisters and brother-in-law, Sue and Tony Nation of Hot Springs and Shirley Ingle of Waldron, Ark.; grandsons, David Amerson and wife Karen of Keller, James Burgess and wife Emma of Palestine, Larry Burgess of Gilmer; granddaughters, Sue Gilliam and husband Jimmy of Rocky Branch, Kathy Rae and husband Gary of Longview, Linda Edmondson of Oregon; 10 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.Family will receive friends from 4:00 till 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
