Corrie Francis Childress, born December 7, 1957, in Hughes Springs, Texas, passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 67. He was a valued member of the Daingerfield community and a devoted husband to his wife, Dawn Lilley. He was known for his steady nature, strong work ethic, and love for his family.

Corrie is preceded in death by his parents, Junior Moore Childress and Alice Ann Barrickman; sister, Tracy Doss; and granddaughter Alisa Renee Daney.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeni Peart and husband James of Satsuma, AL, and Jessica Ashford and husband Jacob of Queen City; his grandchildren, Jorja Peart, Emma Ashford, and Wyatt Ashford; and his siblings, Barbara Holland of Jenkins, James Childress of Jenkins, Mark Childress of Round Rock, and Barry Childress of Leander. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Corrie deeply loved his grandchildren and cherished every moment with them.

Corrie worked as an industrial electrician, a career he took pride in. He enjoyed traveling and cruising—especially to Hawaii—and found peace in camping, gardening, and keeping his yard looking its best. His faith was important to him, and he was a dedicated member of South Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Corrie will be remembered for his kindness, his dependable spirit, and the love he shared with those around him. In his memory, donations may be made to Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society in Dallas, Texas. Honoring his wishes, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Horn Family Funeral Home.

  1. Praying God’s comfort for Corrie’s family and friends. I lived across from his parents on highway 259 in Daingerfield when Tracy and her brother were very young. Seems like yesterday. May God give you peace and comfort.
