Celebrating the life of Clayton Daniel Thornton, we remember a man who truly lived life on his own terms. Born on October 4, 1980, in Palestine, Texas, Clayton spent his formative years attending Daingerfield and Hughes Springs Schools before proudly serving in the Army.

Clayton resided in Texas City, Texas, where his passions and hobbies made him a beloved figure in his community. A true outdoorsman, he cherished the times he spent fishing and camping. His mechanical inclination not only showcased his ability to fix and understand machinery but also played a significant role during his distinguished military service, which included several tours in Iraq.

He also leaves behind his brother, Bobby Phillips, and Angie of Mount Pleasant; his nephew, Trystan Phillips; as well as his aunts, cousins, friends, and his special furry companion, Ava.

  5. Brother I will always cherish our friendship. We have a shared experience of combat, and brotherhood together. I know your humor got me through many hard days. You had an impact on everyone you met with your down to earth, sarcastic personality. The type of guy to answer the call whenever a brother was in need. Love you “Manchu” and tell all the boys hey for me. “Until we meet again, KUTF.”

  6. Such a genuinely nice, funny and amazing guy. I was an absolute honor, and privilege, to know you and to serve with you. Rest easy, brother. “Keep up the fire!”

  8. Stefanie Daby (Plank) says:

I have many memories with Clayton. When he was stationed in WA him and my ex-husband were stationed together. Clayton was always with us and his laughter was contagious. I’ve lost touch with him over the years and I’m saddened to hear the news of his passing. My thoughts are with the family. He will definitely be missed.
