Charles M. Price, age 87, of Daingerfield, Texas passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 in Mount Pleasant, Texas surrounded by his family. Charles was born on February 2, 1937 in Waco, Texas to John Ervin Price and Dorothy Merritt Price. Charles had a long career in law enforcement. He was a graduate of Tarleton State University. After graduating from the Austin DPS Training Academy Charles moved to Daingerfield to serve as a Texas State Trooper for several years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from East Texas State (Texas A&M). He spent 38 years as the Chief Probation officer in multiple surrounding counties before retiring in 1999. After retirement, Charles continued to serve Morris County over the years as a Constable and a Deputy. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Charles never failed to show his love for his family. He loved growing and tending to his roses and flowers so he could share them with his family, handing them out with a smile. He was a cattle rancher and had a love for restoring antique John Deere Tractors. You could often find him at livestock, equipment, and junk sales. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Daingerfield. Charles was a Christian man and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and sister Bobbie Durham. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy Price of Hughes Springs, Texas; 3 children, Charles “Gregg” Price and wife Linda of Diana, Texas, Judy Price Tucker of Naples, Texas, and John Paul Price of Hughes Springs, Texas; 5 Grandchildren Jenny Weems and husband Shawn of Little Elm, Texas, Ashley Miller and husband Chris of Naples, Texas, Jessica Neeley and husband Brandon of Gilmer, Texas, Mark Price and wife Summer of Diana, Texas, and Levi Price of Diana, Texas; 9 Great-Grandchildren Lilah Weems, Avery Weems, Tucker Miller, Audra Miller, Kinslee Applegate, Britney Neeley, Maddox Neeley, Weston Denton, and Holden Price. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Daingerfield with Brother Ted White and Brother Dwaine Higgins officiating. Interment will follow at Bradfield Chapel Cemetery in Hughes Springs under the direction of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Honoring the love of his community, the family requests memorials be made in honor of Mr. Price to: Bradfield Chapel Cemetery Association, 1914 CR 4112, Hughes Springs, Texas 75656. Charles’s new address is HEAVEN.

I am sorry to hear this , My prayers are with his Family, I met him 1 time a few years ago and he was the sweetest , my Family and I were out riding 4 wheelers and we were broke down and he stopped by to help us and he helped load my son’s 4 wheeler in his truck and brought us all the way home , I was so thankful! We were talking and He mentioned, Ashley and Audra, and Tucker , I told him small World I know them too , he thought the World of Them.

  3. In the early 1960’s two highway patrolmen pulled me over for loud pipes and gave me a chance w put a muffler back on my car, I did and they didn’t give me a ticket.One of them was Charles and the other one was Payton Evans.
