Barbara Jean Irby-Holcomb

Barbara Jean Irby-Holcomb was born on November 4, 1938, to Theodore Emery and Ruby McBride. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 13th, 2024. At a young age, she married her first husband, Joe Irby. They were married for 53 years before he went to be with the Lord. During that time, she was a homemaker who loved nothing more than to cook for and be with her family. In her later years she worked at The Villas Рassisted living in Mount Pleasant. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Cason. She loved to give back to the community as she is known to have started the First Baptist food bank that still feeds the needy to this day. More than anything on this Earth, she loved her family and the others around her. They will always cherish the memories that she left them with. She is preceded in death by her first husband of 53 years, Joe Irby; her children, Michael Joe Irby, Teresa Smith and husband, Richard, Reba Hicks, Yvonne Carr, Baby Girl Irby; her second husband of 10 years, Bobby Holcomb; siblings, Marshall Emery, Jerry Don Emery, Eddie Ray Emery, Carolyn June Ramirez; and great grandchild, Katie Marie Fry. Those left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Nathan Liles, Lisa Goodrich and husband, Ryan, Marshall Tucker, Jessie Hicks and wife, Lisa, Barbie Tucker, Tracey Tucker and fianc̩, Mackey Stewart; adopted son, Scott Darby; son in laws, Cecil Carr, Jesse Hicks; numerous grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, April 16th, from 6-8 pm in the chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 17th, at 2 O'clock in the afternoon at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Old Union Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
