January 21, 1935 ~ March 20, 2022
Services for Annie Marie Sisk, 87, of Daingerfield will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 at South Union Missionary Baptist Church in Daingerfield under the direction of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield with Bro. Chad Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will be held in Daingerfield Cemetery.
Annie was born on January 21, 1935 in Lake Creek, Delta County, Texas and passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 in a Nashville, Tennessee hospital.
Annie was the daughter of Opal and Bertie Myrtle Foster and grew up in Deport, Lamar County, Texas. She was one of eight children, with four brothers and three sisters. She attended school in Deport and worked alongside her brothers and sisters on her family’s farm until she met the love of her life, Frank Sisk.
Frank and Annie met at Daingerfield State Park at a Saturday night dance held at the pavilion overlooking the lake that is still there today. They were married on December 4, 1954 and celebrated 67 years of marriage. They had two children, Ronnie and Pennye.
Whether they were dancing or just trying to figure out how to tackle a new challenge, Annie and her husband Frank were true partners in every sense of the word. She was supportive throughout his service as a building contractor, as a volunteer firefighter, as a baseball coach, and as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 in Morris County. She was his confidante, his life-long partner, his faithful wife and his greatest cheerleader.
With an extensive career spanning more than 22 years, Annie worked in Food Services for Daingerfield Independent School District planning menus, ordering food and supplies and helping prepare countless meals for students of all ages.
Annie was a dedicated mother, attending every baseball game, every band concert, every piano recital, and every special event. She was a champion to her children, supportive in every way to help them achieve their dreams.
Annie was an incredible woman who wore many hats with an understated flare. She was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, wife, mother, friend, and quasi-grandmother to the kids who lived across the street.
Annie found beauty in the simple things of life. She loved God, she loved her family and friends, and she loved serving others by cooking delicious meals, hosting gatherings, and sharing words of encouragement to others to press on. She was also a long-time member of South Union Baptist Church.
Annie and Frank never missed an opportunity to gather everyone at their house for good food, fun and fellowship. Annie loved playing games including Wahoo, Cadillac, Rummy and Yahtzee. She was also an avid sports fan, especially football and baseball.
She relished in the outdoors and loved nature, animals, birds and camping. Annie and Frank loved taking road trips together and exploring the countryside. In her younger years, every morning after dropping the kids off at school, Annie and her best friend, Mary Nix, would hike the nature trail around the lake at Daingerfield State Park. Annie also cherished all of the fun times and travel adventures she and Frank shared with their beloved friends, Bea and Leon Frazier. Their laughter resonated around the world.
Annie is survived by her daughter, Pennye Sisk, who resides in Brentwood, Tennessee, her sisters, Ida Mae Norwood and husband, Darold of Cunningham, Texas, Carolyn Brown of Weatherford, Texas and sister-in-law Ann Foster of Paris, Texas. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Alma Jo Kinsey of Lewisville, Texas, brother in-laws, Glen Sisk of Red Lick, Texas and Jim (Barbara) Sisk of Nash, Texas, sister-in-laws, Brenda, Alice, Barbara and Betty Sisk along with numerous nieces and nephews of the Foster and Sisk families who she loved beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin “Frank” Delano Sisk, her son, Ronald Delano Sisk of Chesapeake, Virginia, her parents, Opal and Myrtle Foster, her sister, Geraldine (Pat) Patterson, her brothers Charles Dugan (Maxine), James (Virginia), Marlin (Billie Mac), and Kenith Foster. She was also predeceased by brother-in-laws, Billy, Jesse, Glen (Jo Ellen), David “Bud”, Harvey, Charles, Jim, Ed (Vivian) and Jack Sisk and sister-in-laws, Lois (David) Caul, Nell (Mike) Magoulas, Ruth (Dale) Carver and Rene (Charles) Conn.
Special thanks to the medical team at Ascension St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Annie’s niece, Jennifer and her husband, Eddie Belt of Diana, Texas, Cathy Dunn of Brentwood, Tennessee, and the Dear Daughters Sunday School Class at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Nashville for the loving care they provided to Annie.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Youth Ministry at South Union Baptist Church.

We are very sorry for your loss and are sending prayers for peace to you and your family. Even though we did not, personally, know Mr. and Mrs. Sisk our family did and said they were wonderful people!
Sorry for your loss. We’ll keep praying for all of y’all.
I have known Ann for many years. In our younger days we walked the football field faithfully every day. We took several trips together. I loved that woman but for some reason we just got old and didn’t visit much. I am so sorry that she passed, the end of my road will never be the same without knowing she was there (neighbor) any time I needed her. Rest in peace, Annie and God bless her family.
Pennye, I am so sorry to hear about your Mother’s home-going. You know that you are and have been in my prayers for comfort and peace that passes understanding! Love you! Mary McK
Ann was a very sweet person. We are missing her and Frank going past our house. Walter and I are so sorry for your loss. They were good neighbors but we didn’t visit much, so sorry that we didn’t. I did go on a trip or two with her and my mom and we had a good time. Memories are special. God bless you Pennye.
